A general view of Broom Junction station in remarkably pristine condition on 15th May 1960, two years before the last service was to run. The station officially closed on 17th September 1963, but the train service had, since 1st October 1963, been replaced by a bus service operated by hired Midland Red buses. The official reason given for the line's closure was due to the unsafe condition of the track between Redditch and Evesham, but in reality it was due to the line being uneconomic, because if receipts had been good then this would have paid for the repairs. Even the replacement bus service was found to be similarly uneconomical and this too was withdrawn from 17th June 1963.
