Elevated view of Bordesley Junction with the signal box on the right and the signal controlling access from the GWR to the LMS in the middle distance. Its noteworthy that the reinforced concrete apron which protected the signal box from bomb blast also wraps around the coal bunkers. It is possible that there was a bomb shelter too as the signalman would not be required during an air raid, due to all traffic stopping, and would be in need of better protection than provided by the cabin. The large building adjacent to Coventry Road bridge is a bus station whilst to the right are terraced houses which once stood in Arthur Street but now long since demolished.
