LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Nuneaton

Diesel locomotive D298 is seen passing through the closed station on Sunday 10th July 1966. The six coach train is the diverted 09:45am Euston to Birmingham service, the diversion being required due to electrification of the Birmingham to Rugby line. The locomotive was later assigned the TOPs code 40098 and remained in service until April 1981 when it was withdrawn to be scrapped at Swindon two years later.
