Looking towards Wolverhampton with Winson Green Junction signal cabin on the left and the line to Perry Barr on the right on 1st June 1962. Adjacent to the signal cabin are some storage sidings, which could accommodate up to 268 wagons, connected to the loop. Further along was a connection to Wigan & Company's Lead and Colour Works' private siding. The girders bridge seen in the foreground are carrying the railway over a branch of the Birmingham Navigations Canal. John Fancote writes, 'the bridge girders in the foreground are of Bridge Number 12 on the 'Stour Valley Line'. Both of the signals seen adjacent to the signal cabin are LMS upper quadrant signals mounted on tubular posts. In the distance on the right is a tall signal with a white post. Under an eye glass it can be seen to be an ex-LNWR lower quadrant signal.
