LMS Route: Rugby to Wolverhampton
Tile Hill Station: lnwrth2099
Looking towards Coventry from the cattle dock and along the
down line with the up platform on the left. The station master's house on the
left was originally erected to accommodate the crossing keeper. Passengers
requiring tickets or access to the up platform would enter via an entrance off
Station Roadd (see 'lnwrth2395') into a small
courtyard and then proceed along a corridor formed between the booking office
and the gable end of the station master's house. Tickets would be purchased
from the booking clerk through a very small window. The author remembers that
there was a small notice in the window offering passengers the opportunity to
purchase insurance - for one shilling if his memory serves him correctly.
