LMS Route: Rugby to Wolverhampton
Close up of image 'lnwrstfd2833' showing the hump over which
wagons were propelled to travel forward under their own gravity into the down
sidings. The wagons would be uncoupled from the train and when pushed over the
hump would be guided by staff into a predetermined siding and braked by a
shunter using his pole. This process would continue for most of the day six or
seven days a week.
