Departmental six-wheel saloon No DM284672, now being used for mess purposes, stands half inside Rugby shed. David Jenkinson wrote,'although very similar to many other contemporary saloons, the slightly elevated roof above the cantrail indicates probable sleeping car origin for this vehicle'. On the door in the centre is the word Kitchen. In all probability it was part of Rugby's Breakdown Crane used for both lifting derailed locomotives and rolling stock as well as on civil engineering work.
