LMS Princess Coronation 4-6-2 No 6230 'Duchess of Buccleuch' thunders past Rugby's No 4 signal cabin on the down through line in August 1938. The Pacific is only two months out of Crewe works and has yet to be fitted with deflectors which gave the class an imposing look. The W632 headboard indicates that the 'Duchess' is heading the second portion of the down Royal Scot. Built at Crewe works in June 1938 No 6230 would remain in service until November 1963 when it was withdrawn from 66A Polmadie shed.
