Ex-LMS 4-6-0 rebuilt Patriot class No 45540 'Sir Robert Turnball' is seen at the head an up express service exiting platform 5. Notionally rebuilt from a former LNWR 4-6-0 Claughton class locomotive at Crewe works in August 1933 No 45540 was rebuilt to the same specification as the rebuilt Royal Scot class in November 1947 and remained in this condition until May 1963 when it was withdrawn from Upperby shed in Carlisle to be scrapped during July 1963 at Crewe works.
