LMS Route: Nuneaton to Leamington

Ex-LMS 4-6-2 Coronation class No 46244 'King George VI' is seen at the head of a long express train passing Nuneaton. Built at Crewe works in July 1940 in streamlined form No 46244 was involved in accident at Grendon when it was derailed and after repairs remained in service until September 1964 when it was withdrawn from Kingmoor shed in Carlisle to be scrapped during December 1964 by Arnott & Young, part of the West of Scotland Shipbreaking Company based in Troon.
