Ex-MR 0-6-0 2F No 58174 stands in steam outside Monument Lane shed on 24th July 1961. Built as MR No 1233 by Neilsen, Reid & Company in July 1876, No 58174 was again renumbered by the MR, this time as No 3001, as part of their 1907 renumbering scheme. Designed by Johnson, No 58174 was a member of his 1142 class of which 120 locomotives were built by four external manufacturers over a two year period. Bizarrely No 58174 was only renumbered by the LMS into their duplicate list as No 23001 in September 1947, a few months prior to the demise of the LMS prior to nationalisation. British Railways re-numbered the locomotive in May 1949 which it carried until December 1961 when it was withdrawn from 3A Bescot shed to be scrapped by Derby the following year.
