Monument Lane Shed: lnwrmlsh2187

A 1958 general view of Monument Lane shed as seen from alongside the saw mill located in the builders yard. A general upgrade to the facilities at the shed in 1938 saw a 60 foot turntable and a water softening plant being installed along with the yard being extended by the addition of three roads. These are seen on the left which together with the other single siding installed in 1915, were at a slightly higher level than the existing yard. The four sidings were known to the shed's staff as the 'Promenade' and were separated by a low concrete retaining wall with a metal rail on top.
