A Park Royal Diesel Multiple Unit stops at Hawkesbury Lane station with the 1:10pm Nuneaton Trent Valley to Leamington Avenue service on 10th October 1964. By the time the service ceased, a closure notice is displayed by the door on the left, a two coach train was easily accommodated by the station's short platforms as well as being more than sufficient for the passenger traffic. Ironically the local bus service timetable is on display next to the closure notice. Later classified under TOPs as Class 103 diesel multiple units, these Park Royal Vehicles were equipped with diesel engines by British United Traction (BUT). Ordered in the first half of 1955, twenty of these sets were built by Park Royal at their Crossley Motors works in Stockport. As seen above, they consisted of a power car and a driving trailer with standard BUT 'A' type engines being fitted. The two-car set accommodated sixteen First Class seats and one hundred Second Class seats and weighed just under 60 tons.
