View of Harborne Station's 1911 signal box and on the right a wagon standing on Birmingham Corporation's siding in 1949. The signal box replaced the original signal box in 1901 when the platform was extended. The additional sidings required additional levers and the original frame was too small as was the signal box. When first built the branch was single through out its entire length and was operated as one engine in steam. After six years the operation of the line was upgraded to staff and ticket working which was later upgraded to the electric train staff system with staff interchange points at Monument Lane station, Rotton Park Road station and Harborne Road station.
