Part of an 1888 diagrammatic plan of Curzon Street showing the carriage shed, Proof House Junction and Banbury Street sidings. The use of the name 'Banbury Street cattle sidings' was misleading as the canal and Proof House were both between the sidings and Banbury Street itself. Its assumed that the name was in fact a continuation of its use when the cattle sidings were situated in Banbury Street adjacent to Hardwick's magnificent building. The abandoned Birmingham and Oxford Railway viaduct can be seen in the centre finishing just short of Banbury Street sidings. The carriage sidings would be demolished as part of the widening of the main line into New Street station. The main access to the cattle dock was via a bridge over the Grand Union Canal which led out onto Fazeley Street.
