Ex-LNWR 18 inch Goods or 'Cauliflower' O-6-0 No 8451's tender is being trimmed after coaled at Coventry shed during the 1930s. Built at Crewe works as LNWR No 1491, the locomotive was allocated No 8451 by the LMS in February 1928 which it retained until June 1942 when 20,000 was added by the LMS to the number as part of placing the locomotive on the duplication list, its original number being allocated to a new Stanier 2-8-0 F locomotive scheduled to be built in September 1944 by Swindon works. British Railways numbered the locomotive in February 1949 as No 58382 which it carried until January 1954 when it was withdrawn from service to be scrapped.
