Part of the Ordnance Survey map showing the entrance to the goods yard off the Nuneaton branch. Above Coventry No 4 signal cabin are four sidings (the nearest track being a loop line connecting to the down line exiting from the Coventry to Birmingham lines). Adjacent to these sidings are various track side wagon repairers work sheds owned by Thomas Hunter, WR Davies, and Burnett. This was also the site of the 1904 derailment of the Swift Motor Company's 4:55 am Coventry to Birmingham excursion. The locomotive had entered the siding to add four more coaches and when the two sets of coaches touched the set in the siding ran away to crash through the railings and down the embankment into Albany Road, Earlsdon, Coventry. See 'albanyroad' for several photographs of the accident.
