LMS Route: Coventry Loop Line

Ex-LMS 4-6-0 'Black 5' No 44773 is seen at the head of an empty parcels train as it transits the Coventry Loop Line. John Hyde writes 'The tender is part welded and is No 10630 which it was paired with when first built. The tender livery is in the LMS' 1946 Black Livery whilst the locomotive has been given its British Railways number which required small sized numbers to accommodate the extra '4' given to most LMS locomotives. Built at Crewe in May 1947 No 44773 remained in service for just over twenty years being withdrawn from Edge Hill shed in December 1967 and scrapped in May 1968 by G Cohen of Kettering.
