Looking West along Platform 1 towards New Street No 5 Signal Box during the construction of the new station on 2nd April 1964. The bridge being rebuilt above the station carried Navigation Street over the railway. Above the bridge on the left can be seen what was then the College of Technology located in Suffolk Street and also due to be demolished within the next few years.
