Ex-LMS 7P 4-6-0 'Rebuilt Royal Scot class No 46121 'Highland Light Infantry' is seen arriving at Platform 3 with what was probably a Manchester express on 9th April 1949. The livery is not black and therefore I believe No 46121 is wearing experimental LNER type 'Apple Green' livery. Built by the North British Locomotive Company in November 1927 No 46121 was named 'H.L.I' the following year which it carried until it was rebuilt with a tapered LMS Stanier 2A boiler in August 1946. It was then given the full name 'Highland Light Infrantry' at a ceremony in Glasgow in January 1949 which it carried until it was withdrawn in December 1962 from Polmadie shed in Glasgow until it was finally scrapped in May 1964 by J McWilliam & Sons of Shettleston.
