Ex-Midland Railway 2P 4-4-0 No 40356 passes Aston Shed on a service from New Street on 22nd June 1957. The train is either going to traverse the former Grand Junction route to Great Barr and on to Walsall or the Lichfield route on to Sutton Coldfield. Built at Derby works in November 1883, No 40356 had been in store at 11A Carnforth shed in February 1956 and was withdrawn just two months after this photograph was taken, from 17B Burton on Trent shed to be scrapped by Derby works.
