Close up of image 'lnwr_wit1528' showing the Birmingham side of Witton station's two platform buildings with the main building being on the right. The main building on the up (right) platform was clearly more substantial being wider than the structure opposite. The chimneys also show that the building on the up platform had several rooms which required substantial fire places whereas the structure opposite only required two cast-iron stoves and related chimneys. In addition to Aston Villa's football ground, which would generate a lot of traffic on average once a week for nine months of the year, there were a number of other employers too, local factories such as the Lion Ammunition works and Aston Tramway depot.
