LMS 'Royal Scot' class 4-6-0 No 6134 'Atlas' is depicted
here at the head of an up express at Tamworth. Built by the North British
Locomotive Company in October 1927, No 6134 was later renamed 'The Cheshire
Regiment' in May 1936. It was one of the last members of the class to retain
its original parallel boiler not being fitted with Stanier's 2A tapered boiler
until December 1954. In rebuilt form and carrying its second name, No 6134 was
withdrawn in November 1962 from Upperby shed in Carlisle to be scrapped.
