An elevated view of Atherstone station's goods yard and shed seen from the Silo Tower circa 1960. The door seen on the right of the left hand building was originally accessed by the siding which ran at 90º to the running lines and crossed to the opposite (down) side of the railway. On the left is the entrance to the goods yard whilst on the right beyond the boundary wall is one of the Atherstone's hat factories. Careful observation of the entrance to the goods yard shows the Weigh Bridge adjacent to a building with a sloping roof. This is most likely half of the Weigh Bridge Office which was available to both railway and non-railway paying customers and is denoted as 'WM' on the 1922 Ordnance Survey Map.
