GWR Route: Alcester to Bearley

The Alcester Branch viewed in 1949 from the Alcester to Birmingham Road Bridge, looking towards Alcester Junction, which is just visible in the distance to the right of the engine shed. The MR Home Signal and engine shed head shunt with raised bank stop can be seen beyond the first telegraph pole, while adjacent to the pole is a sleeper decking leading to a permanent way trolley shed on the other side of the track.

The permanent way ganger was required to make a daily inspection of the entire length of the six mile branch for which purpose he used a three wheel rail trolley.
