GWR Route: Alcester to Bearley
Alcester Station (MR): gwra474
Alcester Junction on 28th February 1953 with the GWR Bearley
Branch curving off to the right behind the engine shed and the MR line to
Redditch straight ahead to the left. Both lines where single track, but a
double track junction was constructed with the double track extending the short
distance past the goods yard into Alcester Station.
The original MR Alcester Junction Signal Box was located
behind where the 64 milepost is sited. Built in 1876, this Signal Box
controlled the junction and engine shed points and associated signals. The LMS
constructed one new Signal Box to replace both the Alcester Junction and
Alcester Station Signal Boxes in April 1932.
