GWR Route: Alcester to Bearley

The Alcester Branch viewed from the junction adjacent to the engine shed in 1952/53. The scotch block across the running rail adjacent to the redundant MR home signal marked the end the operational limit since 1939. The Branch Line tracks were removed in 1960.

The track on the right is the short head shunt for the engine shed. A raised bank of sand or ashes mark the end of this head shunt. This raised bank arrangement was cheaper than a dead end stop block and was considered to be just as effective a stop and reduced damage.
