GWR Route: Alcester to Bearley

The Alcester to Bearley route was fortunate to reopen as many other lines closed for the duration were never reopened, their operating companies taking the opportunity of closing unprofitable lines. Despite the light traffic the line did make a profit - just, although for the GWR the cost of running into Alcester station amounted to nearly twenty-five per cent of its operating costs. The line was reinstated and reopened for business on 21st September 1920.
