GWR Route: Alcester to Bearley

Looking towards the Midland line and the replacement MR signal box with the truncated Bearley branch line in the foreground. The pressure upon the resources of the country during the 1914-18 war meant that many of the branchlines with very light loadings and with alternative transport options were taken up to reuse their rails. The rails being light weight were perfect for relaying behind the front line in France to facilitate the movement of munitions.
