A recently introduced Diesel Multiple Unit stands at Yardley Wood Platform's up platform on 15th May 1959. According to CT Goode in 'The North Warwickshire Railway' the North Warwickshire Line was provided with several types of DMUs, three-car units built by Swindon works comprising two 150 hp motor units and a trailer car, Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon sets, both types known as 'cross-country units', plus the single Gloucester RCW units with twin 150hp motors, others with 230 hp engines. They were allocated to Tyseley shed.
