GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line

Wootton Wawen Platform: gwrww523a

Close up of the two platforms and their passenger facilities together with evidence of the run down nature of the station by the early 1930s

Close up of image 'gwrww523' showing the two platforms and their passenger facilities together with evidence of the run down nature of the station by the early 1930s, with the Platform's name board having disappeared after literally rotting away. The white sign in the distance on the down platform - on the left - displaying the number 2 was erected when Diesel Multiple Units began to take over the local passenger services. The numbers was designed to inform drivers where to come to a stop when operating two-car DMU services. At larger stations signs with the numbers 4 and 6 could be seen on the same platform if trains of four or six units were employed.
