The indentation to the platform face can be seen quite clearly in this view. It is possible that the face of the platform is so formed because of the subway which provided passengers with access from the down platform to the up platform and vice-a-versa. The board laid between the two tracks is most likely to have been placed by station staff to aid their crossing of the lines when moving from one platform to another.
