A busy scene in early July 1931, showing the new wide platform and sidings at Capes Yard, just north of Warwick. These facilities had been specifically constructed for the Royal Agricultural Show Station and included a six ton crane. Here prize beasts are being unloaded from trains of special livestock wagons and loaded in road wagons for onward transportation to the showground in Castle Park. In addition to handling the hundreds of trains delivering livestock from all over the country and those delivering the many new vehicles being exhibited, the Great Western Railway were pleased to have also provided all the cartage services from Capes Yard to the showground using their own vehicles, all of which were mechanically propelled. For more information see the Great Western Railway Magazine article.
