British Railways Type 2 Bo-Bo D6348 is seen waiting in the bay whilst on Hatton banker duties in July 1966. They were a class of diesel-hydraulic locomotives designed for the Western Region by the North British Locomotive Company. They were very similar in appearance to the Class 21 diesel-electrics and their nickname Baby Warship related to their similarity in appearance (and internal equipment) to the British Rail Class D20/2 or Class 41 Warship Class. Fifty seven locomotives were built between 1959 and 1962 and operated in the West of England hauling both passengers and freight. The class was eventually displaced by the more powerful and reliable Hymeks and Warships, exacerbated by the bankruptcy of NBL in 1962 and the consequential lack of spares. By 1971 all had been decommissioned and none survived into preservation.
