A 1906 coloured Postcard showing the station being built prior to its opening in October of that year. The photograph shows the station in the final stages of being built: with the brickwork to the waiting rooms on Platforms 3 and 4 to be erected (on the right); windows and door frames to the building on Platform 1 and 2 to be installed, and the passenger steps from this platform to the main station building on the bridge to be completed. On the left a contractor's 0-4-0ST can be seen standing in the sidings adjacent to the main up line.
