Ex-LMS 4-6-0 Class 5XP No 45593 'Kholapur' is seen stored at
Tyseley shed on 29th September 1968. A little over a month after mainline steam
finished on British Railways, Peter Brumby photographed the locomotive.
Cosmetically No 45593 appears to be in reasonable external condition, but is
carrying economy unlined BR green livery and has what seems to be a welded
patch on the smokebox. Built in 1934 by the North British Locomotive Company of
Glasgow, to Lot 118, and designed by William Stanier. In May 1936 she was named
Kolhapur after Kolhapur, a princely state in western India. The locomotive is
preserved for prosperity.
