GWR 0-6-0PT Pannier Tank No 1947 is seen buffered up in line with two other Panniers, No 1812 on the left and No 7797 on the right in 1930. Built at Wolverhampton works in March 1887 No 1947 was near to the end of its working life when the photograph was taken being retired from Tyseley shed in November 1938 to be scrapped shortly afterwards at Swindon works. The locomotive on the left, No 1812 a class 1501 locomotive, was also built at Wolverhampton works but as a Saddle Tank and in July 1881 and it too was near to the end of its working life being withdrawn from Tyseley shed in April 1937 also to be scrapped by Swindon works. The locomotive on the right with full cab had only just been at the time of the photograph being built by the Armstrong Whitworth Company in January 1930 and it remained in service until October 1959 when it was withdrawn from Shrewsbury shed to sold on to Round Oak Steelworks in Brierly Hill, Staffs, in March 1960.
