British Railways built 4-6-0 Modified Hall No 7908 'Henshall Hall' approaches Sanctus Road bridge with a Ramblers Association special on 18th May 1958. The excursion had left Birmingham Snow Hill and was destined for Gloucester. Peter Tandy writes, 'the vegetation hides the older GWR-style signal box that was still extant on this date. The gantry outer home signal controls the rarely used junction with the SMJ. This original junction was further to the north than the 1960 built curve and went round to the Old Town station in a northerly direction. Stratford-upon-Avon's GWR station had no turntable and it would have been possible to have used the triangular junction at Old Town to turn locomotives although, in my limited experience, the triangle which then existed at Bearley was more often used'. Built by Swindon works to Lot 368 in January 1950, No 7908 remained in service until October 1965 when it was withdrawn from 2A Tyseley shed to be scrapped by J Cashmore of Great Bridge.
