GWR Route: Stratford on Avon to Honeybourne
Sancta Lane Station: gwrsanct2466
A Cross-Country nine-car DMU on the 09:00am Snow Hill to
Swansea High Street service passes beneath Sanctus Road on 12th October 1958.
The GWR signalbox at the Evesham Road crossing is clearly visible. Stratford on
Avon's gas holders can just be made out over the signal on the up line
protecting the crossing and the works supplying them can just be made out
immediately to the right of the first telegraph post. The leading unit has had
the speed whisker applied; this being an earlier version of the yellow
warning panel and the later full yellow end designed to improve track safety
for permanent way workers more used to a much noisier form of traction.
