View from Broad Marston Road looking towards the timber steps that led from the road to the up platform waiting room. The photograph provides an interesting comparison of attitudes towards Health & Safety. The handrail seen at road level was made of steel and was designed to protect passengers from road traffic when passing under the bridge. The steps constructed in timber have a middle transom rail reducing the gap between step and handrail whilst the same feature at platform level has no middle rail.
