Close up of image 'gwrms1210' showing one of the two wagon hoists provided by the Great Western Railway in 1924 to lower shed 'B' at Moor Street station. The wagon hoist was fitted with a full width solid floor with open frames to the sides and a covered apex roof. The wagon hoist provided for shed 'A' in the distance had a 20 ton working load capacity whilst shed 'B' was equipped with hoists with a 30 ton plus a 20 ton working capacity. The wagon on the hoist appears to be a five-plank wagon fitted with a metal inverted 'U' shape bar. This device was hinged at the bottom so that it could be rotated from one side of the wagon to the other when being loaded or unloaded. The inverted 'U' bar device was used to provide support to a tarpaulin that would be fitted over the top to keep the contents of the wagon both dry and safe from the affects of the soot and smoke whilst in transit on the railway.
