Ex-LMS 2MT 2-6-0 No 46457 is seen shunting wagons and parcel vans adjacent to Moor Streets upper goods shed in June 1966. This view also shows one of the water cranes that were located at the end of each platform. The top of the column rotated 360 degrees allowing locomotives on either platform to fill their tanks. The canvas hose, known as the bag to engine crew, is stayed by a chain to stop it rotating and in the position seen above is draining into an inverted cupola. Built at Crewe works in May 1950 No 46457 remained in service until May 1967 when it was withdrawn from Kingmoor shed in Carlisle to be scrapped in October 1967 by J McWilliam & Sons of Shettleston.
