Postcard depicting Station Approach, Dorridge before the First World War

Postcard depicting Station Approach, Dorridge before the First World War. Prior to the railway arriving in 1852, the area was mainly farmland with a few scattered dwellings. The provision of a station here was a condition of the local landowners, the Muntz family who lived at Umberslade Hall. Within a few years of the station opening, Dorridge had grown into a sizable community with new houses, shops, Dorridge Grove Asylum, and St Phillip's Church (1878).
