GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hatton Station: gwrhj1928
Hatton's main passenger building located on the up platform
as seen circa 1960 from the passenger footbridge. The brick structure on the
left was in fact the gentlemen's toilets. Hanging on the side of the brick wall
are six fire buckets filled with sand. During the days of steam locomotives the
risk of of a fire breaking was an ever present danger. The ejection of sparks
and embers from passing locomotives could be dangerous as was to prove to be
the case at Coundon Station in Coventry when a passing train ejected embers
from its chimney resulting in the up platform buildings burning down.
