GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hatton Station: gwrhj1890
An unidentified ex-GWR Prairie is seen on the up line
running bunker first back to Warwick station. The locomotive would have
probably banked a freight train up to Hatton North Junction and then, having
eased off, it would then reverse and use the adjacent trailing crossover to
gain access to the up line. Hatton's Middle Signal Box had once stood on the
left adjacent to the telegraph pole. Its rural position would sometimes
generate an unusual type of passenger traffic. The nearby canal was very
popular with fishermen and Hatton staff would on occasion have to cope with up
to 200 anglers on the platform at dusk on a Sunday.
