Close up of image 'gwrhd675' showing the steel frame being erected and other building work being carried out on 'Top' shed. The brick built building on the right and immediately behind the open gate is the weighbridge office with the weighbridge seen on its left. Weighbridges were an essential part of commerce as the sale and transportation of bulk goods would require the loads being measured at specific points. Goods when being delivered to the railway would need to be weighed. This was achieved by weighing the road vehicle on arrival at at the station or depot and on departure - the difference being the weight of the goods. This process would be repeated at the end of the railway journey when the goods were being dispatched to the customer.
