GWR Route: Birmingham and Henley in Arden Railway Company

Lapworth to Henley in Arden Branch Line: gwrha2812

Ullenhall Road (A4189) underbridge to the west of Henley-in-Arden nearing completion in 1906

Ullenhall Road (A4189) underbridge to the west of Henley-in-Arden nearing completion in 1906. The wooden arch formers have recently been removed to reveal the two high semicircular five ring brick arches which are at a 55 degree skew to the railway. The railway is on an embankment at this location (South of Henley-in-Arden Station) and the trackbed is higher than the top of the bridge, making it necessary to have extra width, the bridge being about 25 yards long. The arches, abutments and wing walls were constructed from blue engineering bricks. The second arch on the right crosses a tributary to the River Alne.
