GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line

Henley in Arden - Original Station: gwrha1419

Looking towards the buffers with the shed on the left and the short station platform on the right

Looking towards the buffers with the shed on the left and the station master posed standing on the rails in front of the short station platform on the right circa 1905-7. The set of rails nearest the camera were part of the loop line that ran parallel with the platform line and allowed the locomotive to run around the coaching stock ready to return to Lapworth. This loop also served the single road engine shed and the short siding which was used to store the coal for the branch line locomotive. The Signal Box that controlled the access to the station and the working with its confines lay just behind the photographer. The rodding from the signal box controlling the points can be seen on the left with one set of rodding controlling the points at the far end of the platform. This was achieved after making two 90° degree turns, a right and then a left, with the rod continuing in front of the platform.
