GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Danzey for Tanworth Station: gwrdt2838
An elevated view of Danzey for Tanworth station which
illustrates the rural location of the station when first built. Road access to
the station was from the left with passengers gaining access to the down line
via the timber footbridge which was later replaced. At the bottom of the two
platform ramps are standard GWR cast iron spearhead railings used to deter
passengers from straying on to the line. A GWR Railmotor is standing at the
down platform presumed to be on its way to Stratford upon Avon. Whilst the
station was constructed to mainline standards this was more to do with it being
a strategically important route to the West Country than a need to exploit the
commercial potential of Warwickshire.
