GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Birmingham Snow Hill - British Railways Period Locomotives:

British Railways built 4-6-0 5MT No 44750, fitted with
Caprotti valve gear and Timken roller bearings, is seen passing through Snow
Hill on an up Class A express service. Built at Crewe works in February 1948 No
44750 was an Ivatt update to Stanier's ubiquitous design modified to increase
both efficiency and maintenance intervals and remained in service until
September 1963 when it was withdrawn from Speke Junction shed in Liverpool to
be scrapped in June 1964 by the Slag Reduction Company of Orgreave Tip in
Rotherham.
